The hype turned out to be more than the actual event. In November the Archdiocese announced plans to have speakers on marriage visit all of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Catholic Schools, and what students expected to be a controversial discussion––after reading about the heated question and answer session at DeLaSalle––ended up being an uneventful,... Continue Reading

Sophomores Jack Glover and Ryan Collins were given the opportunity to play in the USA National Team Development Program (NTDP), based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This decision... Continue Reading

Boys’ lacrosse defeats Blake in rematch

After a narrow 7-8 loss to the Blake Bears earlier this season, the boys’ varsity lacrosse team defeated their rivals on Thursday, May 14 with a much greater gap, the final score being 12-3. “We finally played to our full potential,” said junior Danny Anderson, “This was the best game we have had yet this season.” The win came after a disappointing 9-14 loss to Bloomington-Jefferson on Tuesday, May 12.

The team came out strong right away with five goals in the first quarter alone. Juniors Bailey Dodds and Ryan Butts were high scorers in the game, Dodds with three goals and assists and Butts with two of each. Fellow attackman Christian Horn also had a goal for the Red Knights. “The attacks were all on top of their game, they really stepped it up,” said said junior John Jaeger.

Not only did attackmen score during this game, but goals were scored by midfielders: sophomore Peter Schlubloom, juniors Chase Mlnarik, Mike Giacomini, and Sean O’Toole and senior Matt Nanne. Giacomini also helped the Red Knights keep it in the Bears zone by winning 13 of the 18 face offs throughout the game. “Every player on our team came out ready to play them, we played together as a team the whole game,” said Giacomini.
This was not only a strong offensive game for BSM, but a strong defensive game for senior goalie Patrick Gilligan as well, who came out of the game with 23 shots saved, not letting a goal in until the second quarter and only allowing one throughout the second half of the game. “Gilligan had a really good showing. Everyone knows he has a lot of talent and this game really showed it,” said senior Mike Hoff.

The win has the team in high spirits going into sections, with their first game this week, May 22, in which they face off against Blake once again.
