Big second half propels girls’ basketball past Waconia
The girls’ basketball team got hot in the second half, leading to a 72-56 win over Waconia on Thursday, Feb. 16. Though the Red Knights trailed 35-37 at halftime after five lead changes, they took the lead early in the second half with a 21-4 run. BSM did not give up the lead through the entire game, outscoring the Wildcats 37-19 while holding the Wildcats’ leading scorer to only 4 points, a season low. Senior forward Khadijah Shumpert scored three of the team’s first four field goals, ending the game with 12 points. Freshman forward Sydney Liebl scored 8 points in the second half, a career high.
