Diehard arcade gamers compete for highest score

Delving into the seedy world of arcade game enthusiasm, the documentary The King of Kong: A Fist Full of Quarters shows a different side to the classic game of Donkey Kong. The documentary follows middle-aged hopeful Steve Wiebe’s quest to win the title of highest score in Donkey Kong from the sinister and manipulative current champion, Billy Mitchell. The movie is also surprisingly informative about the origins of the addictive arcade game. This documentary gives a frightening look into the world of competitive gaming and the ups and downs of Wiebe’s quest keep the documentary suspenseful and empathetic.
