As a senior on the boys’ varsity soccer team, John Carney is aiming to bring together a new group of boys and get the most they can out of their season. He has the captain’s title under his belt and now is working to influence the outcome of his team’s success.
“The team brings a good mix of grades and social groups together,” said Carney, and he believes that the boys are beginning to build good chemistry with one another on the field.
Referring to himself as the guy “always trying to keep peoples’ heads up,” Carney, along with his co-captains, John Jaeger and Jack Allgaier, brings a sense of leadership that he hopes will bring them farther than last year, where they lost in the section semi-finals.
Having played some of their toughest games of the season already, the boys now have a feel for what this season will have in store for them. Carney hopes to set an example for the younger players through his hard work and determination. He says his number one goal for the boys soccer team this season is “to see the Dome.”
