Junior girls’ softball player Maddy Gallagher, and one of three captains, has continued her hitting streak over five games with a .545 batting average. Though she has hit no home runs, she has hit a number of doubles and even a triple. “I’m not a big hitter, but I can get on base really well,” said Gallagher. Along with her success at the plate, she excels at second base, though it is not her best position. “I haven’t been pitching because of a shoulder injury, but thankfully it is not bad enough to keep me from playing,” said Gallagher. She pitched her first game of the year against St. Francis and pulled out a win, giving up only two runs in six innings.
