Hillary for President

Hillary 2016! It feels like the anticipation for her to announce her candidacy has been building forever (eight years or so), but Hillary has finally made it official: she will be running for the Democratic nomination in the 2016 presidential election. Clinton is a clear favorite for the Democratic nomination and a very strong Presidential candidate, and here are just a few of the reasons why.

Experience – Clinton has more experience than any candidate for either party so far. She has served as Secretary of State, First Lady of Arkansas and the U.S., a Senator from New York and has run for the Democratic nomination once before. She started out as a Republican, serving as the President of the Young Republicans at Wellesley College, before changing her ideals based on what she saw during the civil rights movement and in turn her political party.

Fearlessness – Clinton has often found herself fighting an uphill battle for her beliefs. In college, Clinton was instrumental in leading peaceful civil rights protests. She fought for the rights of children after graduating from Yale Law. While First Lady, Clinton was appointed head of the Health Care Reform Task Force under her husband President Bill Clinton. As head of the task force, she laid the groundwork for healthcare reform in our country, and she was crucial in passing the Adoption and Safe Families Act, and in creating the Violence Against Women office in the Department of Justice.

Bill Clinton – Now, this might seem like an outrageous reason to vote for Hillary, but hear me out. Bill Clinton spent two terms as president, and his accomplishments were seemingly endless, headlined by unthinkably low unemployment and equally high economic growth. This is all fantastic, but you might be wondering what this has to do with Hillary. Behind every great man is an even better woman, and it was clear that Hillary was Bill’s equal, his greatest aid, and his closest advisor, and now he has the chance to return the favor and fill the same role for his wife.

Clinton is by far the best candidate for the Democratic Party in the upcoming 2016 election, and it is my belief that she is the best candidate on either side. She is a tremendous leader, a persistent activist, an intelligent politician, and a strong woman. It is time for someone to come in to the office of President and take the reins to lead our country. Clinton has spent her exemplary career displaying the traits needed to do just that.
