Senior privileges
Written by Dann Fry · March 9, 2010
Traditionally, seniors are given the “privilege” of walking BSM’s halls sans hall pass second semester. It’s a nice gesture, but I’m pretty sure I’ve been doing that without negative consequence for years. A privilege many of us would enjoy, among others,... (more...)
Pawlenty’s budget too stingy
Written by Sean Simonson · March 9, 2010
Facing a Minnesota budget deficit of almost $1.2 billion, Governor Tim Pawlenty’s first reaction is to cut, cut, and cut some more. While on the surface a cut-spending-and-taxes tactic might appear to be beneficial, those who are hardest hit by the recession are also receiving the brunt... (more...)
When media goes too far
March 2, 2010
Since its origination, the media has used unfortunate events to score big ratings and draw in a larger viewer pool, but when is it plainly inappropriate and even disrespectful? After the video of the death of the Georgian luger, Nodar Kumaritashvili, during this year’s Olympics was aired... (more...)
Pregnancy fad

Written by Theresa Lau · February 9, 2010
We attend a private Catholic school and with that, we are going to have to accept certain things: Prayer, Mass, religion classes, Catholic ideals, fine. Despite all of this, I feel it is necessary for BSM to teach both safe sex and abstinence in health classes. To create healthy, educated adults... (more...)
Valentine’s Day: depressing and shameless
Written by Sean Simonson · February 3, 2010
Every year, at the end of January, as chocolate roses take their annual place next to every cash register, I dread the start of the worst holiday season of all: Valentine’s Day. Yet another example of a Christian tradition, originating from the martyr St. Valentine, gone secular (and... (more...)
Letter from the President: Relay for Life will be held in 2010
Written by Dr. Bob Tift · January 22, 2010
One of my intense passions is the study of leadership. I find myself compelled to attend conferences, enroll in graduate courses, and read anything that I can about leadership. In my years of study I have learned a great deal about leadership. Effective leadership often involves making unpopular... (more...)
